How to Choose Your Training Program:
Checking out the training program. When it comes to your education and vocational training choosing the right program is cruicial to succeeding in your chosen career! Here is a step-by-ste- checklist that will help you select the right program, especially online education courses:

med assist bullet  Get in touch with the provider of the vocational training program or online course and ask questions.

med assist bullet  Ask if the program is composed, managed, and taught by experienced (and certified) medical assistant professionals and instructors, who have actually worked in various disciplines of the medical assistant field.

med assist bullet  Review the program syllabus. The training should be comprehensive and cover all aspects of the medical assisting occupation.

med assist bullet  Find out the program's success and pass-rate: the percentage of students that graduate successfully from the program, sit for certification exams, and land jobs.

med assist bullet  Ask to see the program's refund policy. If they don't have one, it's best to walk!

med assist bullet  Choose only courses that meet your specific educational needs and goals, if a program is not flexible enough, or does not lead to the desired credentials, it's probably not for you.

med assist bullet  Contact leading professional associations and certification bodies and ask about their guidelines so you kwow whether you wull be eligible to sit for their professional certification exam upon graduation.

med assist bullet  Check the school's recognitions and accreditation status. Also, if it is an online course, remember to check their reputation. A reputable school will always post all necessary info to their website. A great place to double check is the BBB Online website.

med assist bullet  See if the website has a public forum where you can read the comments. Don't rely solely on a website's published customer feedback language, since bad customer comments can be sorted out, and good ones faked.

med assist bullet  Examine the school's address. Is it a physical address, or does it exist only in cyberspace? With a physical address you will always know where to turn should you run into problems.

med assist bullet  Are you signing up for local services, or services provided from abroad? You might run into legal concerns but will have trouble enforcing them if the business is registered abroad.

med assist bullet  Ask around; seek advice from professionals already in the field, read the newspaper to find out current trends.

med assist bullet  Know what employers want, especially what type of education/training they expect.

med assist bullet  Choose what's right for you, but be an informed consumer and choose wisely!

Online Programs:
One important aspect to consider when selecting an online program to receive your career training is the school's reputation. The school must be honest and credible in their dealings with the public, have a clean record and should be accredited and approved by the U.S. Department of Education!

medical assistant bullet  Online courses are not approved by the U.S. Department of Education unless they truly meet or exceed established national standards. The application process for reviews and approval is tedious and lengthy! Only the best programs achieve approval and accreditation.

Although most programs offer a certificate of completion, the term "certificate" can be a bit confusing to those who seek a medical assistant diploma and want to sit for national certification exams. A certificate has nothing to do with a medical assistant diploma, or medical assistant certification.

medical assistant bullet  A certificate is nothing more, nothing less than a paper imprinted with a name and a date that's awarded when a student has completed a certain course of study. It is not confirmation of conferment of an individual's knowledge, academic excellence, or qualification for a certain trade. Throw into the mix the term "accredited", and the deception is complete.

Armed with this information, potential students, especially online are advised to plan ahead carefully to determine their goals, and then do their research thoroughly before signing up for any available course. Those whose goal is to get certified will need to have an official transcript from a bonafide school of vocational education when submitting their application to their chosen certification body. Be sure to remember this when you do your research!
