Medical Assistant Students
Medical assisting has become a transitional career for many nurse's assistants and home health aides who want to stay in the allied healthcare and medical field but want to enjoy a higher level of responsibility, advancement opportunities and recognition on the job. Medical assistant students must learn all facets of their future workplace with focus on office administration and patient care. They must learn to be comfortable not only around sick people of all ages, but also with body fluids and blood. They are expected to have a knack for elevating the doctors needs while determining the needs of their patients. MOST medical assistant training programs end with an externship to provide valuable on-the-job experience. It is the student's responsibility to be well prepared and eager to get the most of this valuable experience.

E-Learning for Medical Assistants vs. Traditional Instruction:
alarm More and more medical assisting and related technical career courses are being made available over the Internet via structured distance education programs.

The availability of online classes is expanding coast to coast. However, although their lessons are often well thought out and well planned with virtual classrooms and digital collaboration via a personal computer they do not necessarily offer the same quality and opportunities as classroom instruction offered on campus, since the students are lacking in the direct student-instructor, student-student interaction and clinical hands-on aspects of the training.

Because all medical assistants, whether trained in a school, or trained on-the-job must be able to efficiently handle administrative and clinical skills, as well as pass certain other related competencies, prior volunteer experience in the healthcare field, or prior work experience as a nurse's assistant, or home health aide, can also prove to be very helpful!
